GPS: Inconsistent Boundary

Hidden Fence: More Consistency, Greater Safety

GPS wireless dog fences do not provide a consistent boundary signal. This inconsistency can result in confusing the the pet, resulting in training difficulty and much less reliable containment. As a matter of fact, GPS coordinates can shift up to 16 feet at any time due to weather and other factors. Hidden Fences with underground wires provide the most consistent boundary. Your pet can depend on this consistent boundary which is crucial for training and also guarantees your pet will stay safely contained in your yard.

GPS: Shorter Battery Life

Hidden Fence: Longest Battery Life Available

Wireless dog fences typically use a rechargeable battery to power their receiver collars. These GPS collars need to be charged every day and depending on the personality of the pet possibly more than that. The more often you need to charge the battery, the higher the likelihood of winding up with a dead battery, which in turn increases the chance that your pet will leave the yard. Rechargeable batteries have a set number of recharge cycles and with the inability to replace the expired battery with a new one means a whole new receiver must be purchased. Having a replaceable battery with a life of up to two years and lifetime warranty, DogWatch receiver collars provide more safety for your pet and less hassle and expense for you.

GPS: Bulky Collar

Hidden Fence: Lightweight Collar Fits All Dogs (and Cats, Too!)

GPS Wireless dog fence collars are typically bulky and as such not suitable for dogs under 20lbs. DogWatch receiver collars have no such constraints and will fit dogs of all sizes. Our R7mini weighs 1.1 ounce which is equivalent to the weight of a AA battery – a perfect fit for small dogs and cats, too!

GPS: Signal Interference, Limited Uses
Hidden Fence: Patented SafeLink® Digital Signal

You may wonder why GPS wireless dog fences are not recommended for smaller properties. This is due to how much the GPS boundary line can vary (up to 16 feet). GPS signals can also be subject to interference from a variety of other sources, such as nearby tall buildings, trees, and/or mountains which can block the line of sight to the GPS satellite. DogWatch Hidden Fences work reliably for properties of all sizes using our patented FM signal which is much less prone to interference and stray signals. Consequently, this rewards us with such a long battery life.

GPS: Monthly Fees and Limited Warranties

Hidden Fence: No Monthly Fees and a Lifetime Warranty!

Many wireless dog fence systems require an on-going monthly fee for use of GPS and/or cellular networks. DogWatch Hidden Fences have no monthly fees – plus they come with a lifetime equipment warranty! Most GPS wireless dog collars come with a very limited warranty.

GPS: Online Support Only

Hidden Fence: Local Dealers Provide Expert Training and In-Person Customer Service

If you need help, most GPS fencing customer support options are now only available online.  If you have trouble with setup or training a more challenging pup, you are at the mercy of the person on the other end of the conversation. Are they qualified to help you? Do they care? Most support agents simply read from scripts, which means that they are unable to help you if the scenario you face is more complicated. Compare this to the expertise and personalized attention that you will get from a local family-owned and operated company, like DogWatch of the Endless Mountains, which has been containing dogs for 20 years and can tailor a solution to your specific problem. We will support you, even for years after your purchase, and you can rely on us to provide the best customer service in the industry. Check our reviews for proof!

Customer Testimonial

“I bought a Halo collar for my dog Bear hoping that would be a simple solution. But after having nothing but problems with the collar, as well as the company, I gave DogWatch a call and they were able to get me a fence in the same week! They did an awesome job installing it, as well as training Bear on the fence. The hidden fence has been working great, and Bear has not got out of the yard once! I am very happy, and would highly recommend!”
